Despite owning all of Kelly Clarkson's albums, I just purchased her Greatest Hits: Chapter One compilation disc. Why? Because I'm a CD lover and I if I like an artist, I'm going to buy every CD, EP, remix and single that I possibly can, even if that means having duplicates. Call me crazy!  Penned by Clarkson, Jason Halbert and Eric Olson and produced by Sound Kollectiv, "Catch My Breath" is the first single lifted off the original American Idol's first greatest hits album.  While not Clarkson's worst performing single by any stretch, "Catch My Breath" hasn't exactly been igniting the Billboard charts, peaking at #54 on the Hot 100.  The song fared better on the Hot Digital Songs chart, debuting AND peaking at #11.  The song, while nothing new stylistically for Clarkson, does speak to her consistency as an artist.  Clarkson remains a force to be reckoned with in pop music today, not only in her native U.S. but internationally.  Who would have thought that this plain Jane waitress from Texas would be an international superstar today?

Featuring some of Clarkson's best known tunes since the release of her debut album, Thankful, back in 2003, Greatest Hits: Chapter One was released on November 16th via RCA Records.  Following the release of "Catch My Breath," Clarkson released a country radio-friendly Vince Gill duet, called "Don't Rush" on October 30th.  The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at #97 and the Hot Country Songs chart at #23.  The album also includes one final previously unreleased song, the Greg Kurstin-produced "People Like Us."  The international deluxe pressing of the compilation also features a few hits NOT included on the U.S. version: "The Trouble With Love," (from Thankful and the Love, Actually soundtrack), "Beautiful Disaster" (one of my favs from Thankful), "I Do Not Hook Up" (from All I Ever Wanted), and "Dark Side," (from her latest release, Stronger).
